How to Use LogStomper
Opening a File
To open a log file (.log, .txt, or .rtf), click Open from the File menu
or click the Open Button on the Toolbar.
When the Open File dialog box appears, locate the file that you want to open.
Selecting the file and clicking Open will display the entire log file in
the details screen.
You can directly edit the contents of the log file from
within the Details screen,
or perform a search to filter the information to be
displayed.
Searching a File
To search a log file Click Search from the File menu or click the Search Button
on the Toolbar.
The Search Window will now be displayed
From here you can enter up to five keywords. After
entering the keywords you wish to search for, click the OK Button.
LogStomper will scan the file, and display the results of the search in the Log Details.
Editing a File
Once you have the details that you were looking
for, you may want to modify or edit the information displayed in the
Details Screen .
LogStomper contains all the necessary options to change the
unorganized data of the log file into a clear, and professional looking
document.
Saving & Printing
To save the log details, click Save from the File menu
or click the Save Button on the Toolbar
To print log details, click Print from the File Menu,
or click the Print Button on the Toolbar.
Comparing Files
To Compare two log files and display their differences, click the Compare Dropdown Button.
and select 'Files'. This will open the Compare Files Screen.
Click the 'Open' DropDown Button and select two files for comparison.
Once the two files are selected, click the Compare Button.
If the files are identical, a message will appear to confirm.
If there are differences in the files, the details are displayed on the screen.
Comparing Folders
To Compare Folders, click the Compare Dropdown Button, and select 'Folders'
This will open the Folder Compare Screen, from where you can browse your computers directory
and compare the contents of the folders.
